Neon Kurage OST feat. Mikami Kan

Neon Kurage soundtrack featuring Mikami Kan 2CD Super Fuji

“Mikami Kan and Aoba Castle” was a trio consisting of the godfather of Japanese punk, Mikami Kan, the renowned drummer Furusawa Ryojiro, and Anzai Hisashi (Kitaro), a bassist known for playing in Oki Itaru’s band, who were active for a very short time in 1973. With a style that saw the drums and bass improvising throughout and the vocals screaming, fans who saw the Mikami Kan and Aoba Castle concert “Shoot for Love and Hope” at the Ochanomizu France-Japan Hall on June 27, 1973, became legendary and passed down as the Jacks of the 70s, and they have since become one of the most popular bands to listen to, especially among punks.

This soundtrack CD album is a compilation of the 40 main takes used in the films and 21 unused takes as bonus tracks from the 99 tracks of the 6mm master tapes of the soundtracks for “Neon Jellyfish” and “Neon Jellyfish Shinjuku Hanadensha” left at Toei. Disc 1, “Neon Jellyfish,” features music by Mikami Kan, while Disc 2, “Neon Jellyfish Shinjuku Hanadensha,” is by Mikami Kan and pianist Shibuya Takeshi. Both discs are extremely valuable, containing many takes featuring free jazz and jazz-rock riffs performed by Mikami Kan and Aoba Jou, accompanied by Shibuya Takeshi on piano and saxophone by Sakata Akira and Nakamura Seiichi.
